2023.03.23 Kiewer Bildhauer Grechannyk besucht Wien
Der ukrainische Bildhauer Igor Grechanyk besucht Österreich ab 23. März. Mit im Gebäck hat er eine symbolträchtige Bronzefigur: "Die Entführung Europas". Das Motiv ist durchaus mehrdeutig, denn immerhin hat Zeus, verwandelt als weißer Stier, die Prinzessin Europa entführt. Aber er hat es aus Liebe getan, so die Legende. Kann so ein Motiv zum Symbol für den Frieden werden?
Jedenfalls kann der Erwerb der Bronze-Skulptur (H 21 B 16 L 30) ein Beitrag für für die Zukunft des Künstlers sein, der auch unter schwierigsten Bedingungen die Arbeit in seinem Kiewer Atelier fortsetzen will. Der Preis beträgt 4.500,- Euro + 13% MwSt.

How are you?
Thank you for finding time to meet with us in Vienna. It is always very interesting to communicate with you. I'm sending you links to video animations in a low resolution:
1. Madonna-2022 (Ukrainian Madonna)
The composition is inspired by the Ukrainian mothers of Mariupol, Chernigiv, Kharkiv and other places in Ukraine, who have given birth to their children while hiding underground, or in bunkers, during the bombing of their homes.
The fallen bomb enshrines the silhouette, which in conjunction with the Christian symbol of the Madonna creates the dome of the temple. Within this temple of suffering and pain is manifest the greatness of the human spirit. Never before has the combination of yellow and blue had such a dramatic impact, or alluded to so many layers of meaning. Colors that now are immediately associated with the Ukrainian flag, the events in Mariupol and Bucha, and many other new associations.

The sound of the air raid siren was recorded by me in Kyiv with the broadcast of Ave Maria in the background. They play simultaneously: the melody of a divine exalted spirit and a warning about the devil's intent. The composition articulates the tragedy occurring in Ukraine. 2. Dedication to the Bombed Ukrainian Cities
The wounded city, like a living being, bears its pain through empty window openings. And the pain of its inhabitants.

Work with a wide meaning. The laurel wreath has been a symbol of victory since antiquity. Victory is a lofty goal that a person pursues.
True victory leads not so much to overcoming external barriers, obstacles, difficulties, but to overcoming internal inconsistencies, disharmony. And this leads to the strongest transformations within a person and flashes of insight on the way to achieving harmony in oneself.
Sometimes glory, fame and success can darken consciousness and obscure the true picture of the world. This sculpture embodies a portrait of humanity: the laurel wreath of the winner covers the eyes. The laurel wreath of victory over the world around us, which humanity has put on, prevents us from seeing the real state of affairs and our place on this planet.
Everyone can find additional meanings, of course.

The line of life, running like a red thread across the screen, symbolizes our path through the space of our life: uneven, unstable, ambiguous, not straightforward, but striving for development and liberation.
